Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)

SEGAN is committed to creating a diverse, inclusive, and equitable environment where all employees, volunteers, affiliates and partners, regardless of their gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, age, sexual orientation or identity, education or disability, feel valued and respected. We are committed to a nondiscriminatory approach and provide equal opportunity for employment and advancement in all of our departments, programs, and worksites. We respect and value diverse life experiences and heritages and ensure that all voices are valued and heard.

We recognize that we live, work and play on the traditional territories of many Indigenous Nations throughout British Columbia and in Canada. We are committed to modelling diversity and inclusion for those we serve, and to maintaining an inclusive environment with equitable treatment for all. While we see Indigenous heritage as part of diversity and inclusion, we also recognize that Indigenous peoples have a distinct history and distinct ongoing rights, title and governance rights. In all of our work, programs and relationships, we aim to acknowledge, recognize and learn about these rights and the different Indigenous peoples and Indigenous lands we are working within and to do our best to contribute to the ongoing journey of reconciliation in Canada.

To provide informed, authentic leadership for cultural equity, we strive to:

  • See diversity, inclusion, and equity as closely connected to our mission and critical to ensure the well-being of our staff and the arts communities we serve.
  • Acknowledge and dismantle any inequities within our policies, systems, programs, and services, and continually update and report organization progress.
  • Explore potential underlying, unquestioned assumptions that interfere with inclusiveness.
  • Advocate for and support board-level thinking about how systemic inequities impact our organization’s work, and how best to address that in a way that is consistent with our mission.
  • Help to challenge assumptions about what it takes to be a strong leader at our organization, and who is well-positioned to provide leadership.
  • Practice and encourage transparent communication in all interactions.
  • Commit time and resources to expand more diverse leadership within our board, staff, committee, and advisory bodies.
  • Lead with respect and tolerance. We expect all employees to embrace this notion and to express it in workplace interactions and through everyday practices.

SEGAN abides by the following action items to help promote diversity and inclusion in our workplace:

  • Pursue cultural competency throughout our organization by creating substantive learning opportunities and formal, transparent policies.
  • Generate and aggregate quantitative and qualitative research related to equity
  • to make incremental, measurable progress toward the visibility of our diversity, inclusion, and equity efforts. Once every piece of content is curated, it will be added to our website so others can access it.
  • Improve our cultural leadership pipeline by creating and supporting programs and policies that foster leadership and reflects the diversity in our society.
  • Develop and present sessions on diversity, inclusion, and equity to provide information and resources internally, and to members, the community, and the arts industry.
  • Develop a system for being more intentional and conscious of bias during the hiring, promoting, or evaluating process. Train our hiring team on equitable practices.
  • Advocate for public and private-sector policy that promotes diversity, inclusion, and equity. Challenge systems and policies that create inequity, oppression and disparity.

10. CANCELLATION RIGHTS

Where you have purchased the goods or services as a consumer (i.e. for private use as opposed to business use), please note that you are entitled to cancel any contract completed with us within 14 days from the day on which you acquire physical possession of the goods. For the return to be processed the product will need to be returned in its original undamaged packaging.

If you wish to cancel a contract pursuant to this clause, then please see our Returns Policy for further details of how.

11. PRICE AND PAYMENT

All prices shown are exclusive of taxes. We reserve the right to change prices at any time without notice to you.

Payment can be made by any major credit or debit card accepted by Stripe, or via your PayPal account. Payment will be debited and cleared from your account before the dispatch of your good or provision of the service to you. If payment is to be made via a credit card a pre-auth value of S0.01 will be held against the card until the card issuer validates the payment.

In the unlikely event that the price shown on the checkout page is wrong, and we discover this before accepting your order in accordance with clause 9, we are not required to sell the goods to you at the price shown. We always try and ensure that the prices of goods shown on our Website are accurate, but occasionally genuine errors may occur. If we discover an error in the price of the goods that you have ordered we will let you know as soon as possible and give you the option of reconfirming your order at the correct price or cancelling it. If you cancel your order and you have already paid for the goods, then you will receive a full refund.

You confirm that the credit, debit card or PayPal account that is being used is yours. All credit/debit cardholders are subject to validation checks and authorization by the card issuer. If the issuer of your payment card refuses to or does not, for any reason, authorize payment to us we will not be liable to you for any delay or non-delivery.

If your credit or debit card payment is not processed successfully for any reason, we reserve the right to reattempt to process payment within 48 hours. We will give you at least 48 hours of notice in advance of any reattempt to process payment by sending an email to the email address you have provided to us. If you do not want us to reattempt to process payment, you must cancel your order within 48 hours of us sending you this email.

Promotions may apply to all or select items. We reserve the right to modify the promotions and their applicability status at any time without prior notice.

We allow you to use promotion codes strictly on the terms and conditions upon which they were issued which, amongst other things, may include terms relating to your eligibility to use them and a maximum order value.

Please familiarize yourself with these terms and conditions before you place an order as we reserve the right to reject or cancel any orders which do not comply with these terms even if your credit or debit card has been charged. A copy of the discount code terms and conditions can be obtained by emailing us at info@segan.earth or contacting us through our live chat.
