Sustainability vs. Humanity

Sustainability matters, but why?  What's the point of it?

When I think about it, my short answer is: so all human beings, now and in the future, can live a good life.

Then I think: What is sustainability without humanity?  Does 'eco-friendly' matter more or 'humanity-friendly'?

Think about it, what's the point of making the most 'sustainable' handbag in sweatshops?

For me, humanity, ethics and people's rights (aka social sustainability) come first, and everything else comes next.
